Dear Animal Lovers I am desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures so here I am calling for your help.
Long story short:
I had Rex since he was a puppy. In those 8 years together, after we moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, I had to travel aboard. When I came back I found out that both of my German Shepherds managed to run away and that they were taken to Hawaiian Humane Society. AVID - the microchip company called me and I was able to retrieve my female dog (Nel) from there. I was told that Rex had been adopted by a woman who’s husband been deployed to Iraq. Because of the privacy policy they would not give me any more information like her name or anything. After pleading, talking to different directors/supervisors they only agreed to send to that woman, on my behalf, the letter I wrote to her begging to get my dog back. She never replied. It’s been a year and I have been trying to save 3 thousand dollars to pay for the lawyer’s fee as this seems the only way in which her information could be subpoenaed by the court.
My own husband had served in the Navy for 12 years and he’s been in Iraq and Afghanistan not just once and I have deepest respect for the military. I have no doubt that if the Commanding Officer knew about this situation that they would intervene to make these people do the right thing and return my dog back to me.
Please help me find and get reunited with my Rex. If you have any suggestions, ideas please share them with me. I have been posting adds on Craiglist. I’m thinking about making a special page for this on my website as well. Would having a petition signed on the internet by people who feel that Humane Society should do something to resolve this issue be helpful? What should I do? What would you do if this happened to you and your best friend / life companion?
